·       Understand the importance of realtime sharing of sequence data nationally, internationally and across sectors

·       Know the principles of fair data sharing (Nagoya protocol)

·       Understand the differences and pros/cons of restricted-access (e.g. GISAID) vs public access repositories (e.g. ENA and NCBI)

·       Describe the type of data that can be uploaded/downloaded to/from ENA/NCBI/GISAID

9.45-11.00

Demo/Practical: “Sharing sequence data to ENA”

·       Upload data to ENA using the interactive mode and command line

11.15-12.00

Practical: “Retrieving data from public repositories”

·       Search and retrieve data from ENA and other public repositories

Details

In this module, the participants will learn about the different approaches to data sharing and the importance of making data available in real-time for epidemic surveillance and control. After a brief introduction, the participants will have the opportunity to make a test submission to a public data repository and get familiar with online data query and retrieval.
